THE DAILY BRIEFING

Bittensor Daily — November 3, 2026

Discord activity shrank to its quietest pattern of the week, with #General running two full scam warnings and a repeat FAQ redirect and #Rao mostly banter, leaving no tokenomics or governance debate to carry forward from last week's emissions threads. The day's substance instead ran through the subnet cards and the X feed: EveryFrame's team came under a public identity challenge even as its price jumped, TPN Labs shipped a new local-inference product, and SN39 handed its slot to a new owner building a trading-agent subnet. No protocol release landed; the only open PR affects Subtensor's own CI pipeline.

Today's highlights

  1. On X, @markjeffrey publicly questions whether SN117 (EveryFrame)'s founders have been vetted, as the subnet's price rises 78.59% on a new burn rotation rollout.

Who is behind EveryFrame? I want to believe ... but I also want this subnet vetted before we start spreading the word. Founders doxxed? Anyone checked this out in depth yet? So far I have not seen much? (1) This is the most prominent public challenge to a subnet's team legitimacy from a top-followed account this week, arriving as EveryFrame's token rose 78.59% over 24 hours on a new deterministic burn rotation mechanism requiring validators to upgrade. (2) The subnet's team responded by confirming an affiliation with Pip Studios and saying it would create a more public X profile and add a team section to its website. (3) The underlying community discussion centers on requests for verifiable public proof rather than a specific allegation of wrongdoing. The team offered partial disclosure but had not published the requested identity proof by day's end.

  2. SN65 (True Performance Network/TPN Labs) launches Gratis, a browser-based tool for running open-source AI models locally without an account, as its token rises 34.48%.

    (1) Gratis runs on a forked 64-bit WASM runtime and pulls models from Hugging Face, keeping all inference on the user's device rather than routing through network miners. (2) The launch coincided with benchmark orders in the subnet channel failing on an apparent undocumented daily spend cap of about $25, a mechanical issue distinct from the product announcement. (3) The subnet's token rose 34.48% over 24 hours; no team comment on the spend-limit bug appears in the material.

  3. SN39 (deprecated)'s previous owner hands the subnet slot to a new owner launching Kokoah, a Hyperliquid-based trading-agent platform, while disclaiming endorsement.

    (1) The previous owner said he does not endorse the project and will not be affiliated with its development, but will retain owner emissions unless the new owner's buybacks and burns outperform emissions on a weekly basis. (2) The new owner said mining would begin within a few days of the announcement. (3) The subnet's token fell 30.18% over 24 hours, the sharpest move among today's subnet cards.

  4. #General and #Rao both stayed quiet, with moderation and a repeated scam warning dominating a day otherwise empty of ecosystem debate.

The "Subtensor Wallet" and "Dsperse Wallet" are both SCAMS ran once at midday and again in the evening, when a moderator added Anyone DMing or calling you right now is a scammer, even if they look like me, another mod, admin, Opentensor Foundation team member, etc (they are imposters). (1) A returning asker was told I also recommend that you read the reply I posted to you the last time you asked me the very same question, underlining how much of the channel's traffic is repetition. (2) #Rao saw only 10 messages, with a moderator declining to recommend a mining subnet: We can't make those recommendations. (3) No tokenomics, governance or protocol-direction discussion surfaced in either channel today, continuing the falloff from Oct 26's detailed threads.

1 REPORT

Other

A quiet day in #General returns almost entirely to moderation and routine support, with the channel's standing scam warning repeated twice

Recurring warning ·

A moderator posted the channel's full scam-warning reminder, listing imposters claiming to be mods, admins, Opentensor Foundation members, subnet support, or any kind of "support" and warning against fake wallet sites, noting The "Subtensor Wallet" and "Dsperse Wallet" are both SCAMS.

Repeat question ·

An asker returned with a subnet-registration-cost question the moderator had answered before, prompting a pointed reply: I also recommend that you read the reply I posted to you the last time you asked me the very same question, alongside a direct link to documentation and please don't ping me or any mod personally for moderation issues.

Other ·

A banned member asked Hello all who can I speak to in regards to my acct being banned and was routed to a dedicated channel post; a member asked how to pull alpha-burn figures from the SDK with no reply logged; a second full scam warning closed the day, reiterating Anyone DMing or calling you right now is a scammer, even if they look like me, another mod, admin, Opentensor Foundation team member, etc (they are imposters).

3 things to read from it

  1. Volume rose slightly to 13 messages from Nov 1's 3, but, as on Oct 31 and Nov 1, the increase was entirely procedural -- moderation, repeat FAQ redirects and a double scam warning -- rather than ecosystem substance.
  2. The same questioner returning with an identical question the moderator had already answered once underlines how much of the channel's traffic is repetition rather than new ground.
  3. No ecosystem-level topic -- tokenomics, governance, protocol direction -- surfaced in #General today, continuing the sharp falloff in substantive Discord traffic that set in after Oct 26's detailed liquidation-price thread.

In the week’s context

  • This continues the pattern flagged across Oct 27-Nov 1, where #General's volume increasingly skews toward moderation and routine redirects rather than ecosystem discussion, following the detailed technical Q&A logged on Oct 26.

Where it stands

All items closed through standard moderator response or redirect; the alpha-burn SDK question went unanswered and nothing substantive remains open.

everyframe.studio

What happened
SN117 (everyframe.studio) rolled out a deterministic burn rotation mechanism, requiring validators to upgrade to v0.6.0; the team listed owner-controlled burn UIDs as 0, 74, 81, 151, and 153. The subnet also launched a referral and credit promotion through its official X account, offering free credits for quoting, replying to, or inviting friends to the account.
Community
A miner asked the team to lower the current burn rate, citing concerns about miner income. Separately, community members questioned the identity of a team member posting under an initialed name, asking for verifiable background evidence and raising questions about the management location of an associated X account; some referenced a reported joint venture between that account's company, Pip Studios, and the Vidaio project.
Official
The team said burn rate changes are market-driven rather than set by the team, pointed to the admin dashboard, and said more detail on alpha buybacks would follow later. The team member in question confirmed an affiliation with Pip Studios, said they would create a more public X profile, and said the team would add a team section to the website.

True Performance Network

What happened
TPN Labs launched Gratis, a tool that runs open-source AI models locally in a browser tab or desktop app, requiring no account, credits, or setup, with all inference staying on the user's device. The product, built on a forked 64-bit WASM runtime, pulls models from Hugging Face and was announced via gratis-ai.com. Separately, benchmark orders in the subnet channel began failing with a "spend_limit_exceeded" error, which miners linked to an apparent undocumented cap of about $25 per day on accounts despite available prepaid credit.
Community
Community members asked about the team's location and language support for the new app. A miner reported the benchmark order failures and the suspected daily spend cap, and another miner confirmed experiencing the same issue, with both waiting on a response from the team.
Official
TPN Labs announced Gratis on X, describing it as a way to run open-source models privately with no setup, stating that TPN builds small, capable models while Gratis runs them.

SN39 24h −30.18%

deprecated

What happened
SN39 (deprecated)'s previous owner handed the subnet's slot to a new owner launching Kokoah, described as a trading platform built on Hyperliquid in which miners build and compete with trading agents. The previous owner said he does not endorse the project and will not be affiliated with its development, but will retain owner emissions unless buybacks and burns exceed emissions week over week. The new owner said mining was set to start within a few days of the announcement.
Community
Reaction in the channel was mixed: some members questioned the terms of the handover, while others expressed skepticism about another trading-focused subnet launch, with one asking how many such attempts had been made. At least one member called the project promising, and another asked whether it was a former SN58 team.
Official
The previous owner clarified in the channel that he does not endorse or recommend the new project, and that his continued emissions depend on the new owner's buyback-and-burn activity outperforming emissions on a weekly basis. The new owner introduced Kokoah Subnet and said mining would begin in a few days.

Affine

What happened
SN120 (Affine) removed the z_bar gate relaxation, making the GREEN gate threshold flat at z > 1 going forward. Overnight, three candidate files (e526, e537, e540) passed the gate and moved the model head to a new checkpoint. The team outlined plans to raise the reward cap from 8k to 12k tokens, add an IRT term to the baseline draw, and support a step-multiplier hyperparameter for miners. A king gain multiplier went live from E581, scaling a new king's payout share by its measured pass-rate gain over its parent.
Community
A community member ran a holdout-based breakdown of pass/capped/wrong rates across checkpoints and shared the results with the team. Miners pressed the team on documentation inconsistencies between mining.json, GitHub, and an outdated llms.txt page, which the team addressed directly. Discussion also covered whether a step-multiplier or n_steps hyperparameter would speed training and whether switching to a per-submission queue fee would be fair to miners already waiting in line.
Official
The team corrected an earlier note, confirming the z_bar relaxation was removed and the gate is flat at z > 1. It announced plans to adjust the reward cap, add an IRT term, support a step multiplier, and fix the broken green publish, and separately detailed how the new king gain multiplier calculates and clamps payout shares.

In debate · SN120 debates step-multiplier hyperparameter and queue submission fee · 14 participants

  • A step multiplier would let miners train faster without added trainer time, since current learning-rate moves are tiny.

“you probably only want a step multiplier m (e.g. 1–8, default 1) that scales both the lr and the per-tensor norm cap.”
  • The team leaned toward replacing the hotkey-age queue with a per-submission fee alongside the step multiplier to curb low-quality submissions.

“things may help: - step multiplier & bigger files - remove hotkeys-age queue, charge submission fee”
  • Some miners objected that changing queue rules now is unfair to those who have already been waiting their turn.

“Some miners have been waiting so long and finally getting their turn. Do you really think it's fair to change the rules now?”

SN108 24h −0.70%

ChipForge

What happened
SN108 (ChipForge) launched Quest 2, a competition to design a full edge AI NPU scored end-to-end on 7 vision models, with submissions temporarily disabled while validators sync on a new evaluator. A miner reported an evaluator memory-cap bug producing HOST_RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED errors during RTL intake; the team investigated and traced the issue to the miner's own RTL design rather than the evaluator, which the miner confirmed and fixed on their end.
Community
Several community members objected to the one-submission-per-hotkey rule and the 48-hour reward window, arguing the reward split left too little for miners given evaluation costs. Some pushed back on the team's explanations about burn rates and emissions, with one moderator asking participants to calm down.
Official
The team announced the Quest 2 launch via its official X account and in the subnet channel, noting two validators were already running the updated evaluator while coordinating with another validator. The team said burn emissions had already been decreased and could be adjusted further, and that the 2-week evaluation window could change based on progress.

In debate · SN108 submission limits and reward economics for Quest 2 · 6 participants

  • Miners argued the reward split and submission cap left too little compensation given evaluation costs.

“miner emission is only 20%, and only for 48 hours. and furthermore, that is split to top3. so each one can take only about 1.8 tao.”
  • The team defended the one-submission limit by citing the time cost of evaluating each entry.

“Evaluating each submission takes around 2-2.5 hours, so one submission per hotkey is justified”
  • A miner proposed raising the per-hotkey submission limit as a compromise.

“How about 3 times per one hotkey?”

SN117 (EveryFrame) founder identity verification

Community members raised questions about the identity and background of the person presented as the SN117 (EveryFrame) founder, asking for verifiable public proof. The discussion followed a public social media post questioning whether the subnet's founders had been doxxed or vetted.

Positions

  • Community members are asking for verifiable evidence of the founder's identity and claims before trusting the project.

“Hey Mark, is there any way you can provide some verifiable evidence to support your background and the claims you’re making?”
  • A team member acknowledged the concern and said a more public profile would be created to clarify who is behind the subnet.

“I will create a more public profile on X so there is more clarity for everyone and they know who is behind the subnet.”
  • A community member who had referenced the subnet publicly clarified this was not a vouch, only awareness of the project and its product.

“I would not say vouched. I am aware of this subnet and what their product is and how it overlaps with SAGM”
Official response
A person identified as representing the SN117 (EveryFrame) team said they would create a more public profile on X and would speak with the team to get one set up, acknowledging the community's request for more transparency. No further official statement or published verification has been noted in the messages.
What to watch
Whether the promised public profile or identity verification for the SN117 (EveryFrame) founder is published and whether it addresses the community's questions.

Let approved fork pull requests run CI

What
The team changed Subtensor's continuous-integration setup so that approved pull requests from outside contributors actually run the project's test and formatting checks, instead of those checks silently showing as passed without executing.
Why
The checks were previously skipped for external contributions, which meant code from outside the core team could be merged without the usual automated verification actually running.
Who it affects
This affects only developers contributing to the Subtensor codebase; it has no direct effect on TAO holders, validators or miners.
