At Exploit Summit in Montreal, const_reborn unveiled Gamma tokens, a 2027-targeted standard that would let subnets pay each other for services out of their own emissions instead of running redundant miners. The pitch drew fast pushback over self-dealing risk. Day 2 also brought a phone running an 8B model at 60 tokens/second with no GPU, plus new subnet price-discovery research from Yuma Group.

Gamma Tokens: A Marketplace for Subnets to Buy From Each Other
const_reborn used his Exploit Summit keynote to introduce Gamma, a proposed universal standard letting 'application subnets' like Ditto and Roboto route a slice of miner emissions to service subnets like Lium and Chutes for inference, compute, or storage — rather than running their own miners for those functions. Mechanically, a subnet configures a percentage of its miner emissions to auto-sell into Gamma: burning ten dollars of alpha at an oracle-supplied price mints ten Gamma tokens, a non-transferable usage credit that can only be spent on that subnet's product and can't convert back into alpha. const_reborn framed it as making subnet revenue transparent on-chain and standardizing how digital commodities interact across Bittensor, with a 2027 target. The design isn't final: community members flagged that an operator could route emissions to a second subnet they also control, avoiding inflation of their main token while still capturing the emission value — a self-dealing vector that sparked extended debate on the mechanism's guardrails.
02 / QUICK HIT
Exploit Summit's second day opened with a standout demo: an 8B-parameter model running at 60 tokens per second on a phone's CPU alone, no GPU or NPU, using phones rented via Qualcomm Device Cloud — reported ahead of any further optimization work. SN44 (Score) presented on computer vision alongside distribution partner PwC France, discussing enterprise readiness for Bittensor. SN17 (404gen) covered agentic world models, and SN107 (Minos) demoed a 'mine at home' engine live from stage, producing an AI training data product it calls a synthetic genome.

Price Discovery Named the Ecosystem's Top Unsolved Problem
Yuma Group presented research on how protocol design and liquidity shape subnet price discovery, and said it will share preview findings this week on liquidity and a concept called ASMR (Alpha Subnet Market Reloaded), with a full analysis due in October. markjeffrey called current subnet price discovery inefficient and named it the ecosystem's top unsolved issue.

New Launches and a Non-Affiliation Notice
Two new subnets entered the ecosystem: Carbon launched, and Beam made its public launch announcement. Separately, moderators clarified in response to a community question that the X account @taolaunch has no affiliation with the Opentensor Foundation or the Rao Foundation.
