SUBTENSOR RUNTIME · v475

Subtensor v475 adds Null consensus, fee-free PoW registration and an adjustable Basket minimum trade

This release lets Subnet Owners choose Null Consensus for large Subnets and enable fee-free PoW registration, with GPU mining support. Registration pricing for PoW and Burn is now tracked independently. The minimum Basket trade amount can now be adjusted by governance, and the number of parent keys per Childkey is capped.

Null Consensus for large Subnets

Subnet Owners can switch a Subnet to Null Consensus. Only the UID with the largest stake receives the single Validator permit and may set weights. Miner rewards are spread across all registered UIDs when its weights are empty, and all positively staked UIDs keep proportional dividends. Null Consensus has a shared capacity of 2,500 UIDs, divided by the number of emission mechanisms. Returning to Yuma Consensus requires pruning UIDs down to 256 first, which is done in bounded steps of up to 64 UIDs per transaction.

High impact Validators / Miners

Owner-enabled fee-free PoW registration with GPU mining

Subnet Owners can enable PoW registration, which needs no transaction fee or registration Burn. Proofs are accepted for up to five blocks after the referenced block. Mining can use OpenCL GPUs automatically. PoW registrations raise only PoW Difficulty and Burn registrations raise only the Burn price, and Owners can choose Burn only, PoW only, or both. PoW registration is off by default.

Basket minimum trade amount is adjustable

Governance can now change the minimum amount for Basket trades, for single and batch trades. The default stays at 0.5 TAO. Setting it to zero removes only the extra Basket floor; the general minimum Stake amount still applies.
